Rail Travel to Chilham

Chilham is well-connected by rail services linking it to London, Ashford International and Canterbury. Travelers from St Pancras can take the UK’s only high-speed rail line via Southeastern Trains, reaching Chilham in about an hour with a simple change at Ashford International. Chilham station is conveniently located near the North Downs Way and within walking distance of Chilham Village.

Visiting by road

Chilham Village sits at the junction of the A28 and A252, roughly 6 miles from Canterbury and 10 miles from Ashford. There is ample free car parking in the Taylor’s Hill car park, just a short walk from Chilham Village Square.

For keen cyclists

Route 18 on the National Cycle Network (supported by Sustains) runs from Tonbridge Wells to Canterbury, largely on quiet country roads and also traffic free stretches. The route takes in many scenic parts of Kent including Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) – some of these are rather hilly.

Visiting on foot

The 153 mile long North Downs Way – one of the country’s National Trails – passes through Chilham and Old Wives Lees, encompassing parts of our local Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). It runs from Farnham in Surrey to Dover in Kent.
